GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide a forum for the exchange of information about consumer issues and family economics, and improve the well being of individuals, households and families.

  2. To sensitize the Nigerian consumers as to their fundamental rights and how these rights can be met.

  3. To work closely with manufacturers and producers of consumer goods and services to ensure that the health and safety of Nigerian consumers continue to be given top priority in the production process being that consumers constitute the last link in the chain of production.

  4. To check the glut of imported goods most of which pose a potentially serious danger to consumers.

  5. To liaise with relevant government agencies to ensure that operators of illegal outfits which produce counterfeit and fake products to pass off a genuine products are stopped and brought to book etc.

  6. To work in co-operation with relevant government agencies to educate consumers and merchants on consumer issues and how to resolve consumer complaints.

  7. To canvass for bills that protects the interest of Nigerian consumers and ensures representation of consumers in governmental and other policy making bodies.

  8. Amongst the method of resolving manufacturers consumer conflicts are:
  • Mediation and Conciliation.

  • Peaceful dialogue and if need be.

  • Resort to litigation in the law courts.
